Prescription FAQ's
How do I take my medication if the directions say to take it three times a day?
If your directions say to take three times a day, take your medication every 8 hours, preferably around the clock unless otherwise instructed by your physician or pharmacist. Some medication will do just fine with divided doses during your waking hours; others need to be more exact. It is always best to check with your pharmacist for each prescription. You can ask your pharmacist when you pick up your order, you can use our feature, or you can contact us with any of your prescription questions.
What should I do if I miss a dose of my medication? Should I double up on my next dose?
It is usually not necessary to double up on medication doses, but always contact your physician or pharmacist to make sure.
Will you call my doctor if there are no refills on my prescription?
Yes, if there are no refills remaining on your prescription we will contact your doctor for you. This request can take between 24 and 72 hours, so please allow ample time when ordering your refills. We will notify you immediately if your doctor does not authorize your refill(s).
How will Savon.com receive my prescription? How do I get my prescription to Savon.com?

We review all potential interactions, and your physician will be notified of any significant interactions. If this significantly delays the processing of your prescription, you will be notified via email, phone call or both.
Can I order prescriptions for someone other than myself?
Yes, you will need to fill out a complete patient profile for that person, including allergies, medical conditions, current medications and insurance information, so be sure to have this information ready before you start your order.
Can I order more than one prescription at the same time?
Yes, you can order several new, transfer or refill prescriptions at one time. Once you have completed one patient's prescription information, you can go on to add a new, transfer or refill prescription for a different patient, within the same order.
Do I need to contact my doctor for refills/transfers?
No, just contact us and we will do all the needed work for you.

Any prescription filled by Savon.com will have the expiration date marked clearly on the prescription label. This is the date given to us by the manufacturer of the medication at the time of the production of the medication.
How do I properly store my medications?
Most prescriptions should be stored at room temperature, in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Preferably out of direct sunlight and/or heat. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom is not the best place for medications. Moisture and temperature may affect the stability of the medication. Some prescriptions should be refrigerated. Please consult with your pharmacist to know how best to store your medications.
How should I properly dispose of my used syringes/needles?
Your used syringes/needles can be disposed of by placing them in a sealed container such as a "Sharps" container, designed for such use.
What are the benefits of proper disposal of my syringes/needles?
With proper disposal of your syringes/needles, not only do you protect yourself but you protect others who may accidentally come in contact with the used devices. Often times with improper disposal, needles may wash up on beaches or end up in schoolyards. This can be easily avoided by using proper disposal techniques.
Where can I get a "Sharps" container?
You can purchase a Sharps container via Savon.com or at one of our retail stores. You can also contact the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org for further advice.

How do I dispose of medical waste products?
Medical waste products consist of human and non-human blood, blood products, body fluids, and tissues. Lab wastes contaminated with blood, blood products, body fluids, tissues, potentially infectious material and cultures, and stocks of etiologic agents also constitute medical waste. Dispose of medical waste in a plastic bag or bottle that is not vulnerable to moisture and is resistant to puncturing. Bags must be tied to prevent leaks during handling, storage and transport. Each bag or bottle must be labeled with the international biohazard symbol and the word "Biohazard". Disposal depends on where you live, but you can call your local county health department or you local solid waste company.
